Taken as a whole, they bear witness to the wide variety of Germany\u2019s natural and cultural heritage. And four sites along the Romantic Road are to be found on the UNESCO list.   <\/p>\n<h2>W\u00fcrzburg Residence with the Court Gardens and Residence Square (1981)<\/h2>\n<p>The W\u00fcrzburg Residence is considered the most exceptional and most harmonious baroque palace of its kind. It is the joint masterpiece of a number of major artists of the time, and an expression of the importance of the W\u00fcrzburg Court in the 18th century. It is the outward expression of one of the most resplendent royal courts in Europe and is unique in its originality, ambitious construction and the international nature of the team involved in the building work.  <a href=\"\/sehenswuerdigkeit\/residenz-wuerzburg\/\">learn more &gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>The Frontier of the Roman Empire (2005; extended 2008) near Dinkelsb\u00fchl<\/h2>\n<p>The Roman Empire is one of the largest empires ever to have existed. The Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes is part of the fortified Roman frontier, with its forts, watchtowers, walls and palisades, which the sometime world-power built to separate itself from \u2018Free Germania\u2019. It is here that the highly developed culture of Roman Antiquity met the cultural Third World of the Germanic \u2018barbarians\u2019.   <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limesmuseum.de\/welterbe\/welterbe-limes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">learn more &gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Geopark Ries<\/h2>\n<p>15 million years ago, there was a huge \u201cbang\u201d in the N\u00f6rdlinger Ries: a rock from outer space hit with great force and created a gigantic crater \u2013 today\u2019s N\u00f6rdlinger Ries.This region has since been designated the first National Geopark in Bavaria. The new Geopark also includes surrounding areas of the Franconian and Swabian Alb.The center of the Geopark is the town of N\u00f6rdlingen.It is located right in the impact crater. The Ries Crater Museum in N\u00f6rdlingen provides information about the interesting geological past of the Ries.
