On previous days you\u2019ve walked around the town walls in Rain, explored the centre of Augsburg and visited the castle in Friedberg.<\/p>\n<h2><span>Time for impressions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A cycle tour along the Romantic Road is, for many, the perfect way to explore the stretch between W\u00fcrzburg and F\u00fcssen. You\u2019re travelling along at good pace, but there\u2019s still enough time to drink in the many impressions. You can feel the wind in your hair as the trail goes steeply downhill from the Harburg or when, after a short climb, the path in the Pfaffenwinkel snakes downhill again. And sometimes, you simply like to come to a halt, without causing traffic chaos: on the approach to Wallerstein, for example, which rises up in the heart of the N\u00f6rdlinger Ries region, on glimpsing Rottenbuch Abbey, which soars up so impressively in the picturesque landscape, or on the way to Schwangau, when the majestic Neuschwanstein Castle looms against the backdrop of rugged rock cliffs.<\/p>\n<h2><span>Churches, monasteries, craters<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you cycle along this trail, you will discover the &#8216;Best&#8217; of Franconia, Baden, W\u00fcrttemberg, Swabia, Upper Bavaria and the Allg\u00e4u. Vineyards, river valleys, a landscape of stone structures, Baroque pilgrimage churches, Romanesque monastery walls, a Prehistoric meteorite crater, Medieval townscapes with fortified towers and gateways, wild and romantic river valleys and fishing lakes, landscapes with gentle hills and plains, woods and pastures, lakes surrounded by meadows, and finally, the Alps \u2026 These are 500 kilometres that you will never forget.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another few metres uphill, then it\u2019s done and you have reached the K\u00e4sealm.
